01/Founders

Leadership

Steven Hess, Deep Fathom Co-Founder

Steven Hess

CO-FOUNDER & CEO

Builds where the stakes are highest. Former CEO of Cloud Storage Security. Leader in healthcare, fintech, and supply chain.

Steven builds where the stakes are highest. Compliance, security, and the places most people avoid. Before Deep Fathom, he was CEO of Cloud Storage Security, a cloud-native platform trusted by federal agencies and the private sector to protect critical data.

Prior to that, he led businesses and teams across data-intensive, highly regulated industries including healthcare, fintech, and supply chain. He co-founded Deep Fathom to bring clarity and leverage to a system full of noise.

He's also a Colorado native, winter addict, and co-owner of a wellness studio in Steamboat Springs. Ask him about system design, or why he never runs unless something's chasing him.

Kevin Hunt, Deep Fathom Co-Founder

Kevin Hunt

CO-FOUNDER & CTO

Expert in infrastructure and security engineering. Architecting the engine that turns messy operational data into verifiable proof.

Kevin has spent decades designing resilient systems at the intersection of infrastructure, enterprise scale, and regulatory pressure. He served as CTO of Cloud Storage Security and held engineering leadership roles at Microsoft, where he helped build and scale platforms used by millions.

At Deep Fathom, Kevin brings precision, calm, and a refusal to accept brittle complexity. With a track record of building platforms for companies that move fast, but can't afford to break, he leads with clarity and a steady hand.

Ask him about the difference between elegant code and duct tape, or catch him off-grid, where the only signal is from the summit.

Mission

Make continuous readiness the norm for the Defense Industrial Base.

Vision

An AI-native compliance system that guides priorities, orchestrates work across teams and tools, automates routine steps, verifies in flow, and keeps documentation synchronized.

03/How we build

Principles of orchestration

More rigor. Radically less effort.

We deliver higher standards with less effort. Our systems cut friction, remove busywork, and produce stronger outcomes without adding complexity. Every product decision follows one rule: if it doesn't increase rigor or reduce effort, it doesn't ship.

Frontier AI, held to our bar.

We use only capabilities that meet our bar for proof, control, and safety. Today that means agentic AI that orchestrates tools and data, adds context in the moment, and takes actions that carry work to completion. As new frontier capabilities clear the same bar, we adopt them.

Security and compliance, one system.

Security and compliance can be one system. Deep Fathom keeps them unified so proof and protection stay aligned as work happens. Compliance proves security. Security sustains compliance. By design.

One truth. Shared authority.

Security and compliance don't need to compete with the business. Deep Fathom turns obligation into leverage by giving teams shared visibility and agency to act. When that happens, tension gives way to momentum.
