Deep Fathom was featured as the opening segment of ChannelPro’s Voice of the Vendor Holiday Special, a curated episode highlighting timely conversations with technology vendors serving the IT channel.
In the episode, ChannelPro Vice President and Associate Publisher Joel Zaidspiner speaks with Steven Hess, CEO and Co-Founder of Deep Fathom, about the growing impact of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program and what it means for managed service providers (MSPs) and small to mid-sized organizations operating in the defense supply chain.
Steven explains that CMMC is a federal initiative designed to ensure that organizations handling sensitive defense information meet a consistent baseline of cybersecurity practices. While often associated with large defense contractors, the mandate applies broadly across the supply chain, including the thousands of small and mid-sized businesses that make up the majority of the defense industrial base.
During the discussion, Steven highlights a core challenge facing these organizations: most lack the in-house expertise or resources to navigate CMMC on their own. Traditional compliance consulting engagements can be costly and time-intensive, creating a significant barrier for smaller firms that depend on defense contracts to operate.
Deep Fathom was built to address this gap. The company provides an AI-native compliance platform that helps organizations understand CMMC requirements, orchestrate the work required to meet them, and generate the documentation and evidence needed to demonstrate compliance. For MSPs, Deep Fathom offers multiple partnership paths including referral, resale, and co-delivery models. This approach allows service providers to support their clients without having to build a full compliance practice from scratch.
The episode also clarifies that MSPs do not need to be CMMC-certified themselves in order to help clients through the process, unless they directly contract with the Department of Defense.
Deep Fathom opens the holiday special episode, followed by additional conversations with Cylerian, Cisco, and Exclusive Networks, offering listeners a broad perspective on security, risk, and infrastructure challenges facing the channel.
